Apr Doug Terry: “The Light Image Project”

What if an artist could find a way to “paint” with light? And, not using any simulation from a computer, make striking, beautiful and sometimes mysterious imagery using focused light alone?

DOUG TERRY, a long time professional film maker, documentary producer and photo artist has broken the code and now presents his accomplished art works to the world. Working over a five to six year period, he created what many consider a new art form with his “Light Image Project”, working from his home studio in Maryland, USA, and other places. 

Most images are abstract but a few also seem to represent actual natural objects, like flowers and the light from a candle. They are presented in back lit light panels which Terry chose because they come very close to what he saw when forming and photographing the light.
