ISSUE #1:A Comic Themed Art Show

Jan 3 – 17, Opening Reception 7pm Jan 3.

Featuring artwork by W. Scott Forbes, Ricky Kruger, Alina Urusov, Cy Berlin, and Hashtag’s own Deena Pagliarello.

Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Fantastic Four, X-Men… superheros have taken over the silver screen in the past 10 years. Comics are making a comeback into the mainstream with the rise and acceptance of so called “Geek Culture”. We’re seeing shows like Walking Dead, Arrow, and Heroes occupying prime time slots on our television watching schedules, and cartoons like Batman, and Justice League still going strong after being on for years!

Come check out some of your favorite characters, and perhaps a few new ones too from 5 of Toronto’s top comic artists! It’s the perfect way to kick off the new year! And who knows, maybe you’ll find a little something to spend that money you got for the holidays on.

ANDY KITTMER: BAD BLOOD

Jan 31 – Feb 17, Opening Reception 7pm Jan 31. Print signing Feb 1st.

JANUARY 31st Andy Kittmer travels from St.Mary’s to take #Hashtag Gallery by storm! His tattoo and skate culture inspired images rich in both colour and detail will fully immerse you in his universe, and leave you wanting more.

This series of works depicts how society stigmatizes individuals due to there beliefs, looks, addictions, opinions, and how we all have a story to tell. How some of our most powerful memories are of something heartfelt or bad.

Each piece carries it’s own entity, not just depression, but of a deep state of emotion frozen in time as if to be studied, as if to say “This is me, accept it!”
